African American Connection unveils activities for the year at kick-off

Student Success — Richland’s African American Connection held its 2010-11 kick- off meeting on Sept. 1. The organization’s mission is to foster a spirit of success and empowerment for all students and employees, particularly those of color, to inspire local positive change with a global impact. Some of the many activities planned to inspire students in 2010-11 are the play, The Color of Fear; “Dress for Success and Dining Etiquette” workshop; two-day service learning volunteer project at a local homeless shelter at Thanksgiving; annual African American Read-in for local feeder schools; and four student debates with the UNT, SMU, Wylie College and UTD.
